Claudiu has experience in numerous complex litigations involving legal assistance and representation of national and international companies from various fields, such as real estate and construction project development, banking, energy and natural resources, retail, as well as representation of public institutions in various types of disputes, including civil, commercial, and administrative litigations.
Assisted and represented the highest academic forum in Romania, comprised of prominent personalities from Romania and abroad from fields of science, art and literature, in lawsuits concerning the recovery of forest land plots with an area of 4,400 hectares, and claims worth over EUR 7 million.
Advised a leading company in oil refinery business (Romania), in a highly complex case, involving tax evasion, money laundering and the annulment of asset freezing measures imposed on the goods and stocks of the company, with the alleged damages amounting to USD 100 million.
Advised an international Company in the field of the information and communication technology, security systems and intelligent transport solutions, in various lawsuits before Romanian Courts (with a total value of claims of EUR 40 million) in connection with the execution of complex public procurement contracts concerning objectives related to the infrastructure of Cluj-Napoca Airport and software programs for public authorities (IT platform for public procurement contracts) and other aspects of contractual disputes.
Advised a group of companies operating in the automotive sector in connection with a lawsuit in which the Insurance and Reinsurance Company City Insurance S.A. requested that they be ordered to pay damages amounting to EUR 1 million by way of non-material damages, caused by press releases which indicated conduct in the compulsory civil liability insurance market for automotive accidents with common elements to the phase prior to its insolvency.
Represented an important financial institution of the European Union (part of B.E.I. Group), which provides risk capital for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in a series of disputes concerning foreclosure and insolvency proceedings, in order to recover the amounts paid to a leading Austrian bank on the basis of financial guarantees granted to facilitate SMEs’ access to financing.
Advised the largest Greek bank, in numerous lawsuits which involved proving the legality of enforcement procedures initiated against several debtors concerning, inter alia, the lack of abusive character of contractual clauses in the agreements concluded with the banks’ clients.
Represented a well-known and important art collector from Romania, in connection to a lawsuit regarding the revocation of a donation agreement concluded by the latter during the communist regime regarding more than 220 works of art signed by some of the most valuable Romanian artists.
