MUȘAT & ASOCIAȚII law firm announces the promotion of Partners Paul Buta, Iulian Popescu and Răzvan Stoicescu as Deputy Managing Partners, starting with January 2019.
Being highly regarded within the firm, Paul, Iulian and Răzvan have proven a strong entrepreneurial mindset, contributing significantly to the position of MUȘAT & ASOCIAȚII on the market, to promoting its culture and values.
Doctor of Laws and Assistant Professor, Paul BUTA has a legal experience of over 12 years, being specialised in civil and commercial litigation, competition law and intellectual property law. He was involved in complex cases, granting legal assistance to a significant portfolio of international clients (mainly foreign investors and multinationals) on issues specific to the area of competition, intellectual property and regulations in the pharmaceutical and healthcare field. Paul Buta is also known for his expertise in tax litigation and international commercial arbitration, particularly for his ability to analyse and for his innovative solutions applied to successfully manage the litigation files. Currently, Paul Buta coordinates the Healthcare / Pharma & Intellectual Property and Competition / Antitrust practices.
Iulian POPESCU has a legal experience of over 16 years and an extensive academic background, with multiple postgraduate qualifications both in Romania and the UK, covering, at the same time, elements of European law. His experience, consolidated in the more than 14 years of activity with MUȘAT & ASOCIAȚII includes large infrastructure projects, with specialisation in public acquisitions and PPPs, concession rights and issues concerning the regulation / licensing in the field of Telecommunications, IT & Media. The environmental law, shipping, aviation & transportation law are highly specialised areas where Iulian also has a relevant experience. Currently, Iulian Popescu coordinates the practices of Corporate & Commercial Law, Telecom, IT & Media, Transports, Public Acquisitions/PPP, Energy & Natural Resources, Labour Law, being actively involved in the international arbitration as well.
Răzvan STOICESCU is specialised in Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking, Financing & Capital Markets and Restructuring & Insolvency. During his 15 years of experience, Răzvan was involved in extensive projects, some of them without precedent at that time on the Romanian market, carried out by prestigious international financial institutions, but also by the Romanian State, Ministries and companies subordinated thereof. In time, Răzvan also granted legal assistance to a significant portfolio of international – level clients (financers, debtors, issuers etc.) in relation to issues pertaining to the mergers and acquisitions, banking and capital markets sectors, including domestic and international financing, structured products, derivatives, regulations in the financial and banking and capital markets fields. Răzvan is an arbitrator with the panel of arbitrators of Bucharest Stock Exchange, and during November 2016 – May 2017, was an independent director within the Board of Directors of SNGN Romgaz SA, issuing authority listed on Bucharest and London Stock Exchange, with a market value of more than EUR 2.5 billion.
The promotion of the three partners in the management of MUȘAT & ASOCIAȚII was approved unanimously by the General Meeting of Shareholders, on which occasion the company’s founder, Mr. Gheorghe Mușat, said:

The company would also want to announce the withdrawal from its partnership structure of Octavian Popescu, to whom the company’s partners have thanked for the years spent together and wished him success in his future professional activity.
