Bucharest, 18 January: Mușat & Asociații is part of the legal team advising Spectrum Brands Unit, a $5 billion consumer products company, in connection with the $2 billion sale of its global battery and portable lightning business to Energizer Holding Inc., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of primary batteries and portable lighting products. The transaction is expected to close before the end of the year, subject to regulatory approval.
Teaming up with Baker & McKenzie LLP, as international counsel, Mușat & Asociații provides local law advice to Spectrum Brands Unit. Spectrum Brands Unit is an American consumer products company that generated a revenue of $866 million in 2017 and earnings before interest tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of $169 million. This transaction will allow the company to focus on its remaining businesses – hardware, auto care and pet and gardening products.
Energizer Holding Inc. is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of primary batteries and portable lighting products. By this transaction, Energizer will expand its international business, consolidating its position in EMEA and Latin America.
